Homosexuality and Law: An Alphabet -- Haiti

Haiti, Caribbean

While homosexuality is not illegal in Haiti.
Gay people face enormous hurdles, including total lack of any sort of protection from persecution, discrimination, and the usual gamut of homophobic activities brought on by the dominance of the Roman Catholic Church.

Gay marriage is illegal.  It seems that there is really no open "gay scene" in the country, which continues to be one of the poorest in the world.

Most Haitian homosexuals remain closeted.  As in many others nations where this is the case, HIV/AIDS has taken an enoromous disproportionate toll.

After the 2010 earthquake, many people blamed GLBT people for inviting God's wrath.  Many priests agreed and re-inforced the idea.  This is a brief documentary on the subject.
